TOUR DIVIDE - 4 300 Racing Kilometers for Palliative Care (DOMESTICI)

Lukáš Beneš
My name is Aleš Zavoral, and for the past few years, I have been participating in unsupported long-distance cycling races. This year, as my main race of the season, I will take part in the most famous and oldest off-road unsupported race, the TOUR DIVIDE. I will ride 4,300 kilometers from the Canadian town of Banff, crossing the Rocky Mountains through the entire USA to the border with Mexico in Antelope Wells—all without any external support.

On this occasion, I want not only to push my physical limits but also to support an important cause: palliative care in the Czech Republic.

My goal is to raise 215,000 CZK (approximately 10,000 USD), which means 50 CZK (about 2.30 USD) for every kilometer I ride. All the funds raised will be donated to support palliative care through the DOMESTICI project.

Palliative care is invaluable in ensuring a dignified life for patients with serious illnesses and in supporting their families. It helps not only to alleviate physical pain but also to provide psychological and emotional support. I believe that every kilometer I ride can contribute to ensuring that those who need it most receive the care they deserve and can spend the final stages of their lives at home, surrounded by their family, rather than in hospitals.

Support me on this journey and help change the lives of people who are going through the most challenging moments of their lives. Join me as a fellow Domestici and contribute any amount. I sincerely thank you in advance for your contributions to support palliative care!

All the donations will be distributed among organizations that focus on palliative care and are advancing it in the Czech Republic, specifically:

  • Hospice of Saint Lazarus, which helps people at the end of their lives in the Pilsen region.
  • Mobile Hospice Forum, which is working to make palliative care more accessible in other regions of the Czech Republic.
  • Palliative Care Center, which provides education and awareness, essential for making a good end of life a common reality.
Start of the Tour Divide race is on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 8:00 AM (4:00 PM CET) from the Canadian town of Banff near Calgary, and the finish line is at the USA-Mexico border in Antelope Wells.

You can follow the live race progress, including my position on the map, here: TrackLeaders: Tour Divide 2025.
I will also do my best to share updates throughout the race on my social media channels: Instagram, Facebook and Strava
